Faerie Time Travel Romance Series
Sometimes the paranormal strays into the world of science fiction. Time travel is definitely sci-fi, what about faeries? Not so much. But a mash up can be fun. To wit: my faerie time travel romance series called Tennessee Waltz.

Hello and Goodbye
It's been fun the past few months to stop by a new group of readers and share my thoughts on my favorite genre. Unfortunately, work and life are becoming dangerously over-booked (I'm exhausted and constantly on the verge of some sort of cold) so I need to let go of those commitments I can. While I enjoy blogging, I need to dedicate my limited writing time to finishing stories my readers have been requesting.
If you'd like to keep up with my progress, I'll still be maintaining my regular schedule at my author blog and I'll drop by Twitter on a fairly regular basis. I'm trying to cut down on online distractions in general since my work schedule has ballooned past 60 hours and my husband and my Huskies take priority over my online life in this new reality.
My last bit of happiness has to do with the news from Readers' Favorite that my first novel earned a 5-star review. With the perspective of 2 additional novels under my belt, I've been doubting my debut, so it was nice validation--and an additional nudge to re-focus on my fiction writing.
Thanks for letting me join your community for a while, and I look forward to catching up with my new author friends when work settles down again.

The fear and unease she’d tried to bury resurfaced. Her heartbeat quickened and sweat thickened across her skin, causing her t-shirt to cling tighter against her body. She’d been here before. Skye didn’t have to search her memory. She’d lived, breathed inside these four walls as an orphan.
After passing several doorways, Skye stepped into a room to the right. A floorboard creaked beneath her weight. Broken blinds hindered the sunlight from struggling through a large bay window. A couple of desks, decades old sat like large bull frogs, bulky, brown and weathered. Laughter and tears echoed through the past and into the room, faint but unmistakable memories from Skye’s past.
Other children had lived here and died.
She paused, frowned.
A sound, possibly a footstep, resounded from the hall. She backed up against the wall beside the door. Forcing air in and out of her nose, slowly, quietly, she waited and listened.
Silence.
Cautiously, she re-entered the hall and found it empty, dark and ominous. Moving as quietly as possible, she eased back down the hall from where she’d started. By one doorway, ‘Office’ was stenciled in faded gray across the open door. Sadly even if there were filing cabinets inside, she didn’t think she’d find anything useful inside them. Still...
She slipped inside, past what looked like a waiting room and into an office with three tiers of metal files in the same faded beige as the walls outside. She eased two drawers open and found both empty.
Exactly where would years of records be?
Helplessness gnawed into her stomach. There must be a storage unit somewhere. They couldn’t have all been destroyed, could they?
As the drawer scraped shut, the noise almost masked the rustle of clothing. That and the sigh of someone’s breath alerted her too late. She gasped. A hand roughly clamped over her mouth, locking the breath in her lungs. Before she had a chance to latch onto the drawer handle, the person jerked her backward. Her fingers clutched at air.
Focusing past the panic, she forced her mind on the drawer and stared hard at the cabinet. The drawer flew from the cabinet, rushing past and grazing her shoulder but missing her attacker. Damn it. She couldn’t get to the person behind her without hitting herself.
Trying to bite at the hand across her mouth, she struggled against the steel-like arm around her stomach. A man. His scent of soap and aftershave filled her senses. Skye stiffened in shock.
David whipped her around and pushed her up against the nearest wall, his hand firmly latched over her mouth. The buckle of his belt dug into her stomach. She shivered as the heat of his body scorched through her clothing and into her skin as fear and a sick sense of excitement rushed through her limbs.
“Shhh,” he whispered by her ear, his breath feathering her hair back from her temple. “We’re not alone.”

I Change My Mind About as Often as the Weather
I was thinking about that meme floating around the Interwebz that says, 'Nice winter we're having this spring'. I can apply it to my writing over the course of this month.
It's funny how plans change, huh? This time last month I had just reached my word count goal for March on what I was calling the fifth and final novel in my Legends & Lovers series. It's strange, but now I'm twenty thousand words from finishing a different novel, the first in a new series and the novel I was previously working on . . . well, it's hiding in the dark recesses of my flash drive. It may never see the light of day. Or, for all we know, because I'm so mercurial, it could be finished next month.
On the 26th, I finished my 40,000 word goal for Camp NaNoWriMo. I was completely hijacked by the characters from this novel. It's a paranormal historical. It seems to be a NaNoWriMo thing, because these crazy ideas all pop into my head every time I so much as see the logo for that website. While I was writing my latest release, this weird demon-infested town popped into my brain along with the heroes, who are brothers. They're half-demons, but they kill demons and darned if they don't go and fall in love with human women. In the Old West. Except they're not running around killing demons with six shooters. They have a handy demon friend who can go anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds and bring back anything they desire. In this case, the eldest brother has a huge Bowie knife, the middle brother carries a saber, and the youngest has a crossbow. Okay, I admit, the heroine did save the oldest brother from a demon using a Springfield rifle. I had to throw a historical gun in there somewhere.

Excerpt of Shrouded in Illusion
I've been wanting to get Shrouded in Illusion, the 3rd book in the Shrouded Series, done and published for far too long. It's done, but just needs a quick copy edit. Oh, and I almost forgot that it's missing a cover, which I have yet to be able to think about. lol
Between running my business, Bella Media Managment, working part-time as an accountant, volunteering at my local writer's chapter, not to mention family, writing seems to have been pushed to the bottom of the pile of things to do. I'm hoping to change that. Maybe if I start talking about the third book, I might just get focused to the point of putting writing first for a change. Below is an excerpt of Shrouded in Illusion.

David glanced over to where the croupier raked in her
chips. “That didn’t go well.”
“I expect to lose every now and then. After all, when it comes to roulette, the
odds are against me.”
She shrugged, obviously not upset at dropping a couple
hundred. In his opinion, the woman was
far too detached and in control of her every movement and expression to be
anything but a pro, but she wasn't a regular.
He'd been performing at this casino for the last two months, and he'd
have noticed her by now.
When he watched her lose two more times, David inwardly
winced. Over a thousand in less than
fifteen minutes and not one bead of sweat on her brow.
David wondered if she handled sex with the same cool,
controlled way she gambled. Did that
facade hide a wild side? Did a touch, a
word, send her over the edge? Or did it
take more?
She lost yet again.
By God, if his dad had been watching, the man would have had a coronary.
She glanced his way.
“Relax.”
David hadn’t realized he’d protested aloud. “I guess my background’s showing. Can’t seem to get rid of memories of being
dirt poor as a kid.”
She wrinkled her nose, drawing attention to her
freckles. He really did like those
freckles. Or maybe he just liked them on
this particular woman.
“You don’t have to worry,” she assured. I’m not throwing my savings away or stealing
from my son’s piggy bank.”
“You have a son?” he asked in surprise.
“Yes.”
The expression on her face didn’t change, but David sensed
an immediate tension and wariness radiating from her. Despite his curiosity, he decided to respect
her privacy and veer off the subject of her son.
“You might not be throwing away your savings, but you’re
tossing enough around that if you keep it up, management’s going to love you.”
Hey, if she wanted to waste her money, that was her
business. He wasn’t interested in her
bank account, but her body on the other hand...
She glanced up at him.
This time he hadn’t been ogling her breasts, but his thoughts hadn’t
been any better. Twice now she’d caught
him. The woman must have a sixth sense
when his mind hit the gutter.
“Possibly. But the
evening’s not over. I could go all
night. It depends.”
At the double-entendre, his gaze sharpened, but her angelic
expression gave nothing away. Maybe he’d
twisted her words into something he wanted to hear. Then again, her mind might have dove into the
gutter alongside his. Wishful thinking
perhaps...
“What’s your favorite number?”
At her abrupt question, he frowned. “Seven.”
“Then seven it is.”
She placed her remaining chips on his lucky number.
David stiffened. “Are
you sure you want to do that?”
“Don’t worry. If I
lose, I won’t come after you.”
David swallowed.
Another innuendo. This one worse
than the last. If he kept this up--
Jesus. There he went
again--
“Watch,” she urged in a whisper.
David did. The ball
tumbled and clattered around the roulette wheel. As the wheel slowed, the ball landed on seven
and quivered as if struggling against some invisible force. The wheel whispered to a stop and the ball
stilled and remained on...seven.
Just like that. She’d
recovered her losses and added a couple of thousand to her pot.
“That’s amazing!” he exclaimed. And strange.
The odds of something like that occurring were astronomical.
“By God.
Talk about luck!”
“You think it’s luck?”
She searched his face, her expression growing serious.
“What else could it be?”
“I thought you might know.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
At the sudden, unnerving intensity of her gaze, David
tensed, feeling strangely vulnerable.
“Nothing. Absolutely
nothing.” She shook her head and looked
disappointed as she collected her chips.
“I’ll see you around.”
She planned on cashing in, and David hadn’t even gotten her
name. “Hey, don’t go yet. How about a drink?”
“Not tonight.”
She turned and didn’t give him another glance.
“Hey, tell me your name,” he called after her as he stood,
acting completely out of character. He
didn’t chase after women. And he sure
the hell didn’t yell after them either.
She paused and glanced over her shoulder. Their gazes caught.
“It’s Skye Hunter.”
Her name hit David as if someone slammed a fist into his
face. He stood unmoving, unable catch
his breath, think or respond as he watched her turn back around and walk
away. Sudden sweat filmed across his
brow and sent a chill racing across his flesh.
For a wild second he thought he was going to pass out. He shivered and frantically searched his
pockets. He pulled out a roll of antacid
tablets and stuffed two down his throat.
Skye Hunter.
Just saying the name in his head launched his heart rate
into overdrive. The crazy part of the
whole thing--he didn’t know why. He’d
never heard it until she’d told him seconds before.
So then, why in God’s name did her name bother him so much?

New Release
I'm very happy to say that my latest, a Valentine's Day themed romantic comedy is now available.

New Shades Series
I'm busy working on the final edits of my short story Shades of Gray, the first in the series. I had to put a dark spin on it.
Kennedy Sinclair is given a pair of simple sunglasses. Or so she thinks. Within twenty-four hours, though, she discovers they are far from simple or normal. The lenses open a door to the dark side of her personality and a serial killer who turns his focus on her. Can she outwit, outrun a murderer? And if she survives the night, does she have the strength to become the person destiny has created for her?
Tentative release date: June 7, 2012.
